from make-believe to must-achieve: how adulting killed our creativity

part 2 (of 5):

The 4 Life Stages of Creativity

But First, Here's What We Know:
  1. Creativity is a cognitive (thinking) process someone uses to produce something original, authentic, and useful, either to find or to solve a problem, or to experience the concept of Flow
  2. Since creativity is a thinking process (and not some magical skill only people with talent in the arts possess), it can be taught to and learned by anyone, at any age, in any industry
  3. Creativity is the first step in the innovation process.  Creativity is ideation - the generating and honing of ideas.  Innovation is the actual execution of said ideas

Together, we’ll discover how creativity evolves from birth to end of life, revealing:
  • When creativity naturally peaks and fades
  • Issues impacting creativity in each life stage
  • Practical strategies to nurture creativity throughout our lifespan
  • How external experiences directly impact our creative potential

This is the period spanning the first two decades of adulthood that profoundly changes our relationship with creative expression.

Now, let’s look beneath the surface at the personal and professional impacts that result.
